In March of 2022 I moved back to Manitoba from Vancouver. I quickly realized that it was hard to find a list of Winnipeg photography studios. However, I was determined to find a studio rentals that worked for both me and my clients. I did what anyone would do, I started with a Google search for “Photography Studio Winnipeg”. All I found were dated articles and ads promoting local photographers. In Vancouver I had been spoiled with a program called Giggster which contained 20+ pages of studio options. Instead of giving up, I started asking around. Today I’m going to share all of the photography studios Winnipeg has to offer. I hope this blog post helps you find the right studio space for your project.
First, let’s talk about how your shoot location can impact the result of your photographs. Overhead lighting is commonly found in most buildings. This lighting is often built into a space and cannot be adjusted. This limits your photographer’s ability to control the angle of the light. Most notably, overhead lighting can cast unflattering shadows on people and products. This can lead to unwanted yellow or blue hues. When able, consider taking your product/service to a location that compliments your shoot mood-board.
If you prefer your images are captured on-site talk to your photographer in advance to mitigate the effects of overhead lighting. This may include a site visit and lighting test before your session.
Now that you know the impact of light, let’s look at photography studio rentals in Winnipeg.
Photo from Nevele Studio’s Website.
What a breath of fresh air in Winnipeg! This 265 sqft studio is a downtown photography studio for rent in Winnipeg. The space features natural materials and fabrics. It is naturally lit and perfect for shoots requiring fewer models. You can see more images of the studio here: https://studionevele.com/

All I can say is that Winnipeg needed this studio! However, it has recently been converted to a private space which means it is not open to the public. I recently partnered up with Taylor from @teastudi0 to offer photo/iphone video packages. If you book one of these packages you will have access to Sunday Ave Studio. This space is beautifully styled, yet still minimal. It provides the perfect blank canvas for a photography session.

Looking for a slightly larger space? Allure has some great options. My personal preference is the Lighthouse studio, a white room with wooden floors and large windows. In my opinion, this is a great space for a photography workshop. I’ve also photographed over a dozen client sessions here as you can really customize the space to your project. Allure has a total of five Winnipeg photography studios in different styles. I have also shot in the White Studio, however I find external lighting is often required in that space.
Check them out here: https://allure-studios.ca/the-lighthouse-studio/ .
A Winnipeg studio space located in the heart of Corydon Avenue. It features high ceilings, neutral decor and modern furnishings. Visit Cubby’s website for more details: https://www.cubbystudios.ca/work . I have not yet shot here.

When I buy a house I will ask Kait Day (studio owner) where she got EVERYTHING in her space. Kait certainly has an eye for design, every cup, candle, and book in her space communicates that. If you’re looking for a beautifully styled home for your session check out her space here: https://giggster.com/listing/28681-historic-wolseley-gem.
Photo from May 11th’s website
May 11th has two studios, including over 10 feature walls (backdrops). My preference is studio A. I tend to prefer working in studios that offer a blank canvas. However, if you want a polished look, that is already styled, this studio may be for you. Learn more here: https://www.may11studio.com/studio-a
I had trouble finding a photograph of the space. This is a picture I took at the last workshop I hosted at Shamballah Healing Center. Unfortuantely, I don’t have any wider images of the space.
When you click on Shamballah Healing Center’s website, you will realize that this is not a photography business. Rather, they have a studio space available to rent for all types of projects. Learn more at: https://www.shamballahlaboratory.com/space-rental

This home has been carefully designed with a hint of the 70s. If you’re looking for a styled home for your photo session session this may be the perfect place. I have photographed sessions here and will note that the lighting may less cohesive. I often bring my flash and external lights just in case!

Not pictured as I couldn’t find an image that was big enough! Instead you can explore their instagram account for yourself: https://www.instagram.com/thecreativeloungeinc/ . The Creative Lounge features a large white space with overhead lighting. I’m excited to shoot in this space and will update the description once I’ve explored it more.
